101 Gourmet Cake Bites Review

101 Gourmet Cake BitesSpending the afternoon curled up with a cook book is like a mini vacation for me. Spending it with Wendy Paul’s 101 Gourmet Cake Bites for all Occasions, is like a mini vacation at a five star resort! Read on to find out how you can win your own copy of this wonderful, savvy, sometimes sassy cook book.

My double-blinker was the supplies list. Really, there are so few items needed to get started that anyone can do this. Without knowing it – I was primed to start baking.

The book is divided into five sections:
  1. Fruity and Fabulous (intriguing)
On my list of soon to try’s is the Strawberry Shortcake and Orange Creamsicle and Caramel Apple, and, and, and ...

  1. The Sweetness of Chocolate (you know I’ll spend most of my time here)
I drooled, then wiped the drool, then dropped to the ground and did twenty sit-ups for even looking at the recipe for Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Cake Bites. Wow!
When I read Wendy’s intro for her Dark Chocolate Truffles, I knew I’d found a kindred chocolate spirit. It reads, “Chocolate is like a drug for some people. Eating the smallest portion calms fears, takes away pain, and eases the slightest discomforts in life. I believe chocolate is a form of therapy – and it’s certainly cheaper than shopping!” I mean, how did the woman read my thoughts?
I am so looking forward to making the Mint Brownie Bites. How can I go wrong?
Coming in a close second to the mint/chocolate combo is my love for orange and chocolate together. An orange is one of the few fruits that I can taste the shape if it. It has a well-rounded flavor. When pared with chocolate, it is a ball of goodness.

  1. Holiday Treats (Can’t wait to see what we have for holidays)
Wendy starts off with my favorite holiday flavor – Egg Nog! I can’t wait till Halloween when they put out those cartons of egg nog with the witch on the side. I’m all there!
Candy Cane? Who knew and who can wait?
Pumpkin Cheesecake had me wishing I was one of Wendy’s “tasters.” How does one get that job?

  1. Theme Decorating (always a delight)
Turkeys, dice, scrabble, beach balls, eye balls, foot balls and etc., were all such a delight to see. The creativity involved in making each bite-sized treat was overwhelming. You simply have to see these to believe it.

  1. The Icing Inside the Little Bites (hello!)

  1. If I win, you don't even have to ship it to me. But how about instead of giving me the book, you just bake a recipe from it once month and give to me?

  3. Chocolate is my "drug" of choice too -- okay, it's my only one :-) I completely agree with the benefits of chocolate - it can cure nearly everything :-)
