Dipping Chocolates

DSC_2887

Ahhh, the holidays have begun!

To kick of the Christmas Season I spent a wonderful day with my mom making these beauties. Thanks Mom - it was everything I'd hoped it would be.

See the empty cups? There were a few more after I took the picture.

I'm afraid that dipping chocolates is hardwired into my spirit of Christmas. No dipping - no Fa La La-ing. You see I grew up doing this. For as far back as my memories pull, I have been immersed in the chocolate tradition every year - literally. (I dip, therefore I'm IN the chocolate.)

There is a new trend to the tradition. The talking Mom into it. I spoiled the fun one year when I made over 14 batches of fondant. Recipe passed down from Grandma J. We rolled and dipped and boxed until my eyes felt like they were covered in sugar sprinkles. Every year the horror wakes her at night and I have to talk her out of jumping off the Lolly Pop Ship with promises of tiny fondant batches and salty caramels.

As you can see from the picture above, I was once again successful. Anyway, this is my stash. I'll work my way through it over the next few weeks. Hubby's stash is all mints. Big. Fat. Green. Mints. The kids' boxes will appear on Christmas morning. I don't think they would know what to do without chocolates to go with their pancakes.

What do you all make special for the Holidays? Care to share?
